April Storms was appointed City Manager in January of 2022. In the past 2 years, she has led the city and Planning Commission through the Redevelopment Ready Essentials Certification through the MEDC, a Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance full re-write, wrote over $6 million dollars in grants in her tenure as City Manager in WC. April was the recipient of the 2023 NC Women in Leadership Community Leader Award, 2024 WC Public Schools "I CARE" Award and was named in the top 40 under 40 Crain's Grand Rapids Business in 2024. April takes pride in her work, her team and wants to make a lasting impact on the community and the people she has the pleasure of serving each day.
