Camp Newaygo is inviting paddlers of all skill levels to join us for Canoes, Kayaks & Culture. This unique late summer tour will take place on August 23 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Most readers are probably familiar with a progressive dinner, whereby diners travel to new locations for each course. CK&C is the same thing, only on the water. Experience the late summer beauty of Newaygo County as you paddle around Pickerel Lake. Both beginners and advanced paddlers alike will enjoy the water, company, and of course, the food along the way. Camp Newaygo’s lakefront hosts will prepare culinary delights to sustain your energy and delight your palate on your journey. Stop #1 - The tour will begin on Pickerel Lake at Camp Newaygo. From there, you will travel to the first stop for an appetizer of spinach artichoke tarts and bruschetta. Stop #2 - Your second stop will feature pulled pork sandwiches. Stop #3 - Your last stop is the home of Marilyn Barrett for coffee and brownies. CK&C is available with advanced reservations only, and spots are limited. The cost is $35 per person and includes canoes or kayaks with paddles and lifejackets and dinner, or only $25 each if you wish to supply your own boat, paddles and lifejackets. Make your reservation now by contacting Christa at (231) 652-1184, ext. 102, or csmalligan@campnewaygo.org. The deadline to register is Thursday, August 20. Please notify of food allergies upon registration. Rain Date: Sunday, August 30 at 3:00 p.m.
